Losing Weight – Day 55, 56.

In Animals, Diet, Food, Health, Lifestyle, My Life, Snoring, Wellness, recipes on March 12, 2009 at 7:27 am

Still working towards the 13th and not only a day out at the races for my 6oth, but more importantly I get to wear that lovely elegant pure new wool suit.
I stopped eating my porridge for 5 days, just to see how my body reacted and I switched to 3 egg omelettes instead. The results were not good:

Although I felt lighter, my body seemed totally different and lacking in substance. I had less energy and I started to get yearnings for heavy foods like cakes and bread. So amazing was the change in my body´s feelings and the direction of my mind that I have gone back  to my usual delicious start to the days. Porridge really works. I can see me eating it daily for the rest of my life.

Here is the recipe for my fish dish – simple but yummy:

Dice a cup of shallots and half a fennel. Chuck them into a pan and fry with a cup of thin strips of smoked streaky rashers and plenty of very thin pieces of red and green peppers. Season well with salt and pepper and pop in a couple of finely sliced chillies. When this is all soft and browning, add quite a lot of chopped filleted white fish and chunks of salmon steaks. Lightly and carefully stir it all around so the fish pieces do not break up, then lob in some fish sock, and a couple of glugs of fish sauce, and a quarter of a glass of pernod(optional).  When this has gently simmered (it is vital that the fish is just cooked and does not overdo and fall apart) for 5 to 10 minutes, add plenty of prawns. Serve, after a few more minutes of simmering until the prawns are warmed through, with whole grain rice and a fresh green salad. This dish is so quick because you can use the ingredients from fozen (very inexpensive from Aldi or Lidl)  if need be and you do not have to thicken or reduce the mix. It should make enough for 6 people. . . . Enjoy

I went swimming yesterday and did plenty of walking and now I have finally managed to get the pedometer, which my sister so  kindly gave me, up and running, so this could add a new dimension to my daily exercise routine. I have nearly finished the patent application for the items which will help us fatties, so all will be revealed soon.

  1. Hi Unc
What happened with the omelettes? 3 eggs? Isn’t that too many for one day? You’ll have to post a pic of you in the snazzy suit – already you have left the league of fatties and are now normal…some of us still have a way to go.
Thank heavens for rain yesterday! There is some thing indescribable about the smell of rain on African soil after a long dry spell. If you could bottle it you’d make a fortune. Now I can go for a good walk up the mountain with Amber (the dog. I must admit that exercise does make me feel more motivated and that it can’t be left out of the slimming equation. Healthy diet+smaller portions+exercise = gorgeous me!

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR DAY 57!!! YOU DID IT! You look gorgeous, seem to be able to run 6 miles without puffing and create delectable dishes with the wave of a finger……what a man! Any person would be proud to be your niece – but not half as proud as I am. XXXXX

  3. Hi Di,
Sorry I missed you on Skype. You seemed to be doing something important with your business voice on. Shame I missed it. I am so pleased it rained for a little light relief from all that heat. i would love to bottle it but there you go. I cannot wait to see the new extra gorgeous you…..keep at it….Unc P

  4. Hi UNc P
I am also sorry to have misssed you. I had to speak to a colleague who is doing fundraising for us – a rather earnest lady who takes everything very seriously. I wouldn’t have missed talking to you unless it was very important!
The new me is slowly emerging like a butterfly from a chrysalis…slowly but surely.

  5. Hi Lovely Niece,
